Fast Times at Cake Towers

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
August 22nd? What the hell have we been doing for the last month, I’m sure
you asking? Well if you must know we’ve been pretty damn busy down here on
Stephens Mews. Doing what? Well shall we take a spin round the building and
find out?

The digital team have been selling Spooks: Code 9 to the interweb. Imagine if
Paris Hilton was a spy and the entire fate of the human race depended on her
quick wits. Well that little fantasy was made possible by
www.facespook.co.uk. You could upload any mugs face, in fact Deputy Dudley
looked the big dog in it, and they would star in their own little mini
series.

Cake Live took the company to Prague for a weekend for the launch of the new Saints
Row game and ended up in Helga’s World of Pain – the game is supposed to be underground, but this took it a bit literally.

The Comms team has been a bit mad lately as we prepare for 2 massive
events in the next week. Firstly Thursday (25th) sees the launch of our latest
project with Vinspired. Vfavours focuses around reclaiming used clothes and
customizing, remaking them and basically recycling fashion.

And the other big Cake event takes place next Tuesday (30th) with Ford
Fiestas Tango at the Tower. I suppose a cross between Strictly Come Dancing,
Herbie Goes To London, a live orchestra, loads of celebs and an iconic
setting…sounds pretty much like a standard
Cake event then.

I’m sure there’ll be loads of pics to go up, lots of videos and pages and
pages of coverage to go up on the site, so check back in the next few days
and see just how fantastically exciting the world is…

Cake Storm Cologne With Vodafone Music Unlimited

Wednesday, August 13th, 2008

One fact of the Great British summer. Cake gets busy. This weekend it’s the V Festival, but that’s after we’ve dusted ourselves down after a monumental weekend in Germany. As Vodafone’s global music agency, we just took Cologne over last weekend, and dealt them Vodafone Music Unlimited.

Large? Yes. A 4 day event over 5 venues with 30,000 gig-goers and over 40 VIP guests, this was a city taken over by music.

Headlined by Massive Attack, The Killers and local superstar The Gentleman, a diverse line up of local and international talent from a range of genres brought the city to life. Delivering against our ‘Music Unlimited’ strategy, content was made available via web, WAP, Bluetooth and live satellite streaming to involve audiences wherever they were, whenever they wanted to see some great live music performances.

Quality work.

Sol bring on the sunshine in Victoria station

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

For the Sol Bring on the Sunshine tour 2008 the team visited London Victoria Station on 6th August.

A bleary eyed team leader Rachel, was on site for the 1am load-in where the sol branded Mexican taxi was positioned right inside the station on the main concourse

During the day, the Latino music was blaring out of the car while the sol team interacted with commuters and tourists, giving out money off vouchers and scratchcards. At night, extra staff hit the local on-trade accounts in the station to offer people scratchcards to win a free bottle of Sol.

This was part of the activity in London in the final week of a 6 week tour across 8 cities with 12 staff and 6 branded classic VW beetles.

Bring out the gimps……. or three?

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Actually it’s the really friendly Swedish band Henry Fiat’s Open Sore, one of the acts who played at Way Out West, Gothenburg, Sweden this weekend, 7-9 August http://wayoutwest.se/english

On site was the lovely Stephanie Moses, yours truly and our Swedish counterparts from WeMadeThis, working it for the SanDisk Wake Up Your Phone Campaign http://www.wakeupyourphone.com/. Way Out West was the third event in SanDisk’s global Live Nation sponsorship calendar - featuring the new SanDisk Mobile Ultra mobile phone memory card.

So who did we meet, what was the gossip…? Top of the list was Franz Ferdinand, N.E.R.D and The Flaming Lips – all of whom played awesome sets as did The Nationals. We also had the pleasure of interviewing The High Hats, Dengue Fever, Dapuntobeat, Joan as Police Woman, Buraka Som Sistema, The Sonics, The Dodos and José González.

Way Out West, voted best Scandinavian music festival 2007, featured a good mix of music including both local and international artists and bands, Gothenburg City club nights and everything Swedish from fashion, hot dogs, dance moves and moshing madness….oh and popular names with almost every other person named Niklas, Henrik or Magnus, go figure?

Score: 9/10. It’s a given really - had a great time with an awesome bunch of people, made all the more fun with Stephanie who kept me laughing the entire weekend.

Sun sets on another Sundae on the Common

Monday, July 28th, 2008

So after Saturdays ice cream extravaganza, Ben & Jerry’s Sundae on the Common came to a conclusion, with storming sets courtesy of Ash, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, and many more. Delightfully breezy summer sounds complimented the sunny backdrop from (a remarkably cheery) Evan Dando and his mates, The Lemonheads, and fresh brother & sister combo, Slow Club. We also had some ska-tinged power pop from Parka and some dirty rock and/or roll from the Vivian’s and The New York Fund.

Even more so than the day previous, the sunshine was out in force, with one person in the queue for the toilets describing the weather as “…..hotter than the surface of Mercury!!” The grass under the big tree, was at a premium, but with all the free ice-cream on offer, it was very difficult to complain. Spare a thought though for the poor guys dressed in the animal costumes, they earned their money, that’s for sure.

Once again Jerry Greenfield, he who puts the Jerry in Ben & Jerry’s was in attendance, he was even caught, giving it the beans to the Vivian’s set. I had to doth my cap. Here’s hoping next year is just as good, and I’ll have lost the weight I’ve gained from eating all that cookie dough and chocolate chip.
