The Big Lottery Fund

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Yesterday morning a big contingent of Cakers headed over to the Mermaid Conference Centre, to witness the BIG Lottery Fund unveiling the final shortlist for the People’s £50 Million Lottery contest.

The morning saw the Lottery’s Jenni Falconer selecting the successful projects from the actual ‘Thunderball’ Lottery machine. The lucky projects were;

Black Country Urban Park
Eden Project: the Edge
Sherwood: The Living Legend
Sustrans – Connect2

For all details check out the spanking new website www.thepeoples50million.org.uk
The Cake event delivered eight pieces of National TV coverage and National print coverage in The Telegraph, Independent and Metro.

So now we have to wait until December where the public will be given the opportunity to vote for which project they think is worthy of the £50 million prize on the ITV show.

Dirty Dancing

Tuesday, October 23rd, 2007

“Thursday night saw the launch of the new Living programme ‘Dirty Dancing: The Time of your Life’ a 10-week dance reality show that takes 16 dancers to the Mountain Lake Resort where the cult classic was filmed to try to win the coveted year long contract with top dance agency Bloc at the Cobden Club.

We invited 9 couples from 9 media agencies to battle it out on the dance floor in order to win a fantastic prize. We gave each couple dancing lessons from a professional choreographer who taught them a dance routine from the film and most importantly showed them how to dance dirty!

All couples on the night put in an amazing amount of effort and performed in perfect Baby and Jonny style in front of around 250 of there screaming peers and 3 judges. Everyone was great but only one couple could be crowned champions…….. and that was the hip shaking Tom Rovery and Carsten Tomkins from PHD who didn’t miss a step and showed the best Dirty Dancing of the evening.

I think its fair to say that not only did everyone have a brilliant evening……they had the time of their lives!!”

So the Cake girls switched their wellies for heels and worked at the uber-glam Marchesa launch event last night.
Flashbulbs, vertiginous heels, YUMMY cakes and jewelry were the order of the day as the likes of Naomi Campbell, Erin O’Connor, Vidal Sassoon and Jaime Murray celebrated the launch of sumptuous gown creators Marchesa’s autumn/winter 07/08 collections in the decadent surroundings of Ladurée Harrods.

It’s Raining Mobiles…

Cake has been responsible for a series of meteor showers in various UK city centres. Victims so far have included a London Taxi and a selection of paving slabs.

These installations aren’t an act of god, but are to highlight the launch of the new Motorola RAZR 2 handset.
