The countdown to Wii begins!
In bedrooms across the globe bloggers and Nintendo fans have spent months coming up with more theories about when Nintendo’s latest offering will make its way onto European soil than have been seen since the Kennedy assasination. Friday September the 15th was the day that Nintendo chose to finally reveal its hand and put the speculation to rest. For the last month or so the Cake Nintendo Europe PR team have put our lives on hold and focused on a reveal moment to literally blow the competition out of the water. The mammoth task set for the team involved everything from co-ordinating and planning getting media from every corner of Europe to London’s Excel centre, producing press materials and booking celebrity talent to increase the event’s media coverage. Not to mention staffing and running the event itself.
Following final preparation at 3am in our hotel rooms, the team pulled off a flawless event that Wii can be proud of (pardon the pun).
Over 700 media attended, Tim Henman and Greg Rusedski played live tennis on stage, 40 broadcast crews and close to 100 snappers captured the event on film and hundreds of pieces of coverage resulted from the announcement.
Wii launches across Europe on December 8th at €250 and comes bundled with five Wii Sports games.
The NoE team can be found down the pub recovering for the next week or so!
