Valentines Day - A reflection
Interflora will be breathing a sigh of relief this morning following yesterday’s annual Valentine’s Day love-in.
Travelling home from the office and watching as loved up couples ate each other’s faces off on the tube truly warmed the cockles of my heart. Even troubled child star Gary Coleman has found someone to love this year, which served to remind me that there really is someone for everyone out there.
As I passed a rammed Zizzi’s and watched an orgy of couples staring intently at one another, sharing each others food and laughing at every given opportunity - I smiled to myself and felt all warm and fuzzy inside. The experience was spoiled only by the recollection of a story I read in the Telegraph about how restaurants inflate their prices to take advantage of the love that fills the air every February.
Indeed, the big V-Day will always cause a smidgen of bitterness among some people, particularly those who find themselves alone on the big night. As such, I suggest that rather than searching for a cure for loneliness at the bottom of a bottle of voddie, singletons should watch the below instructional video for a constructive way out of the spiral of depression they might find themselves in.
Alternatively, you could take a solace in the fact that St Valentine was actually murdered on February 14 and reflect that the bastard probably deserved it!
