Putting on the Pounds

ITV’s Katie Derham is literally putting on the pounds for ‘The People’s £50 Million Lottery Giveaway’ - £50,000 to be precise! The national news anchor and TV presenter has announced the details for the ITV programme by dressing up in some of the £50 million Lottery cash she will soon help to give-away.

This may have been one of Cake’s most unusual photoshoots to date. When the idea was put forward about creating a dress made literally out of £50,000 it sounded like sheer madness!! But at Cake we don’t shy away from crazy ideas and set about planning the logistics for the shoot. The dress took three days to create and two security guards were drafted in to keep watch over the cash 24 hours day. By the time we’d finished, the dress had 1800 notes on it - including 1,348 x £50’s, 1,348 x £20’s and 48 x £5’s and 800 £1 coins!

On the day of the shoot Katie arrived and put on the dress for the first time, as you can see from the picture she looked a million dollars - well almost! Katie said of the dress - “I felt completely fabulous wearing such a special dress and couldn’t believe it had been made especially for me – it fitted like a glove. The People’s £50 Million Lottery Giveaway is an amazing campaign that the whole country can get behind - it gives the public a chance to say where they want their Lottery money spent – so what are you waiting for check out the People’s Millions website and get voting!”
