Sundae, lovely Sundae
This year’s Ben & Jerry’s Sundae was yet another shiny, happy friendly event. In fact I think we can say that year three was our best yet. 20,000 people came and licked up 100,000 scoops of ice cream.
Thankfully the rain stayed away from Clapham Common for the duration, making an appearance only after The Feeling had cleared the stage as they hit the last note of their headlining set on Saturday.
Once again Vauxhall City farm was a huge hit and the helter skelter, swing boats, candle dipping and cookie painting kept revellers busy. Not to mention the toe wrestling, air guitar contests and fortune telling Mystic Moo!
This year the event was climate neutral with proceeds from ticket sales going towards a renewable energy project in India. On site were the RSPCA, Trees for Cities, Fairtrade Foundation and Ben & Jerry’s very own Climate Change College Ambassadors. All showed how small things can make a different, whether it’s unplugging your mobile phone to using free range eggs.
The music provided something for everyone, from the Noisettes rocking out to the Proclaimers belting out I’m Gonna Be (500 miles) as a massive conga line snaked its way through the crowd.
